This was the e-Commerce Day 2025

As every year, our 13th e-Commerce Day took place again at the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne – and it was simply fantastic! The evening before kicked off with the traditional Beach-BBQ, which was combined with an exciting beach volleyball tournament. Learn more about our e-Commerce Day 2025 in this post!

On 11th April 2025, we welcomed around 100 exhibitors, over 2,000 enthusiastic visitors, and nearly 30 inspiring talks across three stages – that was our 13th e-Commerce Day. The highlight-filled event was organised by our wonderful Kaufland Global Marketplace team. In fact, everything began the night before at Playa in Cologne: Under glorious sunshine, over 400 guests enjoyed themselves at the traditional Beach-BBQ along with the beach volleyball tournament. The following morning at 8 AM, the gates of the RheinEnergieSTADION opened, and the e-Commerce Day was ready to start!

From our internationalisation projects to the football world champion

An absolute highlight at the start of the e-Commerce Day? The inspiring opening speech by our CEO, Gerald! He not only addressed the current challenges in e-commerce but also unveiled some exciting news: This year, we will be launching online marketplaces in Italy and France! This surprise was topped off with delicious treats from the respective countries: macarons, crêpes, tiramisu chocolates, bruschetta seasoning, and much more – a true delight for anyone lucky enough to sample them!

The day was filled with numerous other highlights: inspiring conversations at the exhibition stands, gripping presentations on three stages, as well as many educational masterclasses. A particularly special moment was the interview that CEO Gerald conducted with football world champion Philipp Lahm on the Main Stage. In this conversation, Philipp Lahm shared profound insights into his career as a professional football player and discussed the values that shaped him throughout his journey. He reflected on his greatest successes and failures and shared his experiences in the digital and e-commerce realms. He also explained how his athletic career intertwines with changing technological trends and what personal and professional goals he is pursuing for the future. It was a unique opportunity to gain personal insights into the mindset of one of Germany’s most successful footballers!

Us KECse as on-site helpers

304 KECse were present on-site! Whether at our own stand for Kaufland Global Marketplace, at the entrance control, or at the cloakroom – many colleagues contributed their dedication to making the e-Commerce Day a resounding success. They also made a great impression as assistants of our (VIP) speakers, at the info desks, and behind the scenes.

But we were also in top form on stage: Among others, our colleagues Andreas and Marcel skillfully moderated through the day.

Here’s what Andi, Senior Product Manager, had to say:

A super lovely event, where Marcel and I found ourselves on stage to moderate the day and guide through the contributions. Unbelievably enjoyable! A little passion. And, as every year, with many highlights – this year (for me) especially Jonas Deichmann.

And what was the reward for the tremendous effort of our colleagues? Naturally, participation in the fantastic after-show party, complete with a delicious dinner! Even more KECse, as well as visitors and exhibitors of the e-Commerce Day, gathered there and celebrated to the sounds of DJ Ingo Fieting well into the night.

Thank you to everyone who was part of the 13th e-Commerce Day: See you next year!
