This is our Internationalization team

THEY DRIVE OUR INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION FORWARD WITH PASSION

The Internationalization team at Kaufland e-commerce plays an integral role in expanding our online marketplaces into new countries. Team members work across departments and with all company areas to ensure that we succeed in international markets.

The team consists of the following sub-teams

Our team is divided into four specialized areas:

This team is responsible for expansion into new countries and develops strategies to ensure a successful market launch.

The focus here is on international, overarching projects and the implementation of expansion and Country Management issues. This team ensures that all projects run efficiently and in a targeted manner.

The focus here is fully on success in the individual countries. This team makes sure that our strategies are adapted to the local conditions to get the best results possible.

Through conducting analyses and providing insights into every aspect of our internationalisation, this team supports decision-making with their data-based findings.

The team pursues the following objectives

The team’s main objective is the successful expansion of our marketplaces into new countries. They ensure that we are not only present in each new market, but that we are also able to operate successfully and fulfil the needs of our local customers.

What day-to-day business looks like

The Internationalization team tackles a wide range of daily tasks, from strategic issues to project work and operational topics. Always working in close cooperation with various departments, the colleagues from this team are in an ongoing exchange with other stakeholders to ensure that everyone is on the same page and working together towards the same objectives.

How the team keeps in touch

The team uses various formats to enable internal communication.

  • Dailies: Three times a week, the team gets together for a mix of personal conversation and planning the day’s tasks.
  • Biweekly meetings: These meetings, which take place every other week, focus on current relevant topics in the field, project updates, operational challenges and OKRs.
  • One-on-one meetings: Managers and employees or project partners get together for a personal exchange of ideas.
  •  Ad-hoc retro sessions: The team reflects on larger projects in retrospective sessions following their completion.
  • Messaging tools: Team members are in regular contact with one another via various messaging tools.

One of the things I like the most about my job is the chance to support the strategic and international direction of the company – from the choice of country to the roll-out. I really love that no two days are the same; every day brings new challenges and insights as I interact with different teams and explore the complexities of each country and the market entry. Working together with the teams to develop the right solutions for the respective countries is what makes my role so rewarding.
