SETTING THE PACE FOR MARKETPLACE MANAGEMENT

Our Marketplace Development team’s job is to constantly develop our international online marketplaces. The team works cross-departmentally and is responsible for strategic development in order to encourage the growth of our platforms.

This is how the team is structured

 

There are two focus areas within the Marketplace Development team:

  • Marketplace & Service Development: This area concentrates on improving our services. It analyses the needs of our customers, sellers and partners, develops new services and ensures that existing functions run reliably and efficiently. At the same time, the team puts a strong focus on supporting other teams in order to create synergies and increase the quality of our service.
  • Marketplace & Process Development: This sub-team ensures that all processes – such as in the areas of internationalisation or legal and compliance – operate smoothly. It optimises internal and external workflows and guarantees that all requirements are met efficiently and on-time. It focusses on change management, process automation and identifying optimisation potential.

How the team works

 

The team divides its project work into different successive phases:

 

  • Ideation: In this phase, the team gathers ideas and develops creative concepts in order to recognize opportunities and find innovative solutions. Everyone from within and outside the team can bring in their knowledge, which makes the pool of ideas all the wider. This team works closely with teams from Marketplace, Product and other areas.
  • Scoping: During the scoping phase, the best ideas are substantiated. The colleagues investigate the feasibility, calculate potentials, set clear goals, and analyse possible risks. Based on this, they create a project plan and a project team.
  • Implementation: The implementation phase is when plans are put into place. Here, the focus is on practical ways to put the strategies into action and continuously improving the processes. Depending on their role, some team members take on parts of processes, while others keep an eye on the entire project.

The major goal of the Marketplace Development team is clear: to promote the further development of the online marketplaces.

To do so, the team members identify market opportunities, analyze trends from the industry and implement innovative solutions for our customers, sellers and partners. Their data-based decisions optimize the performance of our marketplaces and make it possible to develop strategies for increasing sales. Furthermore, the team is continuously improving internal processes and develops clear collaboration guidelines in order to make processes more efficient and actively support other teams for smooth cooperation in the company. 

How your future team keeps in touch

 

The team keeps in touch regularly with meetings and workshops in which ideas are discussed and best practices are shared. Furthermore, we use modern tools to facilitate teamwork and exchange information efficiently. 

  • Weeklies: The whole team meets up once a week to discuss current topics and progress.
  • One-on-one meetings: Once a week, each team member has a personal meeting with the team lead.
  • Deep Dive Sessions: Additional meetings are organized as needed to discuss specific topics in detail.
  • Constant discussion via chats: This is how team members support each other when questions arise on short notice.
  • Work within the projects: Depending on the project, every team member has various ways of keeping in touch with colleagues from other teams and departments.

In the Marketplace Development team, we work on exciting, challenging projects and act as a central interface between different departments – from operational teams through Legal and Finance to Tech & Product. Our work is influenced by data-based analyses and decisions, identifying potential for development and optimisation, pragmatic applications, wide-ranging stakeholder management and the desire to take the current parameters, question them and optimise them.
