This is what working in our Accounting team looks like

THEY BRING TRANSPARENCY AND STABILITY TO OUR FINANCES

Our Accounting team sets the course for sustainable financial stability and ensures that the entire company can operate efficiently and in compliance with regulations. The team’s mission: To guarantee accurate accounting and timely payments, support operational business, and thereby ensure the quality and satisfaction of customers and sellers on our marketplaces.

This is how the team is composed

Our Accounting team is divided into three central departments:

  • Accounting: This area comprises several specialised sub-teams. Our bookkeepers handle goods accounting, general ledger accounting, invoicing for our global marketplaces, and project management. In this way, they ensure that our accounting is fully covered and that processes run smoothly in all countries.
  • Administration: The administration team is responsible for master data management, cost accounting, and various administrative tasks. These include data protection, insurance management, random checks in the payment run, Intrastat reports, and the processing of advance payments.
  • Payroll accounting: This team ensures that all salaries are paid on time and correctly. It makes sure that all legal requirements are met and that all bookings are made reliably.

Your goal in the Accounting team

The Accounting team ensures that Kaufland e-commerce maintains financial transparency at all times and complies with the applicable accounting guidelines. Its goal is to present accurate and reliable annual financial statements at the end of each financial year that comply with our accounting guidelines and are certified by auditors without objection. It ensures that all invoices are checked, correctly posted and paid on time to keep the day-to-day business of our marketplaces running seamlessly.

The team is also responsible for customer experience and the satisfaction of our marketplace sellers. It ensures that all receivables from sales are paid out reliably. At the same time, it continuously works to improve its processes and identify optimisation potential in order to continuously improve our service for customers and sellers.

This is what Antonio, our Head of Accounting, says about his team:

Accounting & Administration is very exciting in our fast-paced e-commerce business. As a team, we enjoy evaluating numerous new business ideas from an accounting perspective, supporting their implementation and ensuring they are integrated into day-to-day operations as efficiently as possible. This allows us to actively contribute to the success of the company with our ideas and solutions. The team atmosphere makes working here all the more enjoyable, and we always look forward to celebrating our successes together at various team events.

The daily tasks in the Accounting team are varied and include both operational and project-related activities. The team’s regular tasks include preparing monthly financial statements, making payments to sellers, managing receivables, processing new payroll issues and auditing invoices. The monthly focus varies and always brings new challenges.

One team, one fundamental concept. Together everyone achieves more. Whether it’s ensuring long-term satisfaction for marketplace sellers or putting a stop to fraudsters – it never gets boring here!

How the team stays in contact

The team sees regular communication as crucial for staying up to date and maintaining a strong team spirit. It uses the following communication formats:

Bi-weekly team meetings: Every two weeks, the entire team meets for a large team meeting, where each sub-team presents its current topics and shares progress or challenges. Afterwards, colleagues wind down with a “Coffee O’Clock”, which gives them time to chat about their free time and weekend plans – a space for casual conversation and TV recommendations.

Friday Fun: Every Friday, the team has a “Fancy Drinks O’Clock”, where they analyse the upcoming Bundesliga match day or discuss other exciting topics.

Further coordination meetings: The sub-teams coordinate their operational tasks on a daily basis to ensure that all current challenges can be tackled efficiently and collaboratively. Project-related regular meetings supplement this regular coordination and help to maintain the flow of information.
