Your role in the Media Design Team

IN SEARCH OF NEW ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES

The work that our Media Design team does in online marketing can best be compared to an in-house agency, as all of the colleagues are doing interdisciplinary work with teams from different departments. They use a ticket system that allows them a continuous overview of all their tasks at any given time and keeps the status of each ticket transparent for everyone who’s involved in it. We will introduce you in more detail to your potential new tasks and some team members.

Your tasks in your new team

You’ll mostly be responsible for the areas of

  • B2B (communication with sellers, e.g. via brochures, informative videos and trade fair booths),
  • B2C (on- and offsite teasers and campaigns, social media and newsletters)
  • and Employer Branding (internal and external communication from Kaufland e-commerce as an employer)

where you’ll be developing new graphics and design concepts in the our universe. This will take place via internal and external interfaces with colleagues, applicants, business partners, and customers with a clear and unified look.

The aims and focal areas of our Media Design team are clearly defined

  • Offering visitors to the marketplaces a perfect user experience
  • Supporting other teams in making the workplace as attractive as possible for our employees and applicants
  • Making customers all over Europe happy – starting in Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia
  • Constantly (further) developing all design-related technical interfaces between the marketplaces and customers as well as sellers, e.g. in the form of homepage and newsletter teasers, social media posts, brochures, trade fair booths and employer branding graphics

How to exchange information with your team

To achieve common goals, good communication is crucial. Especially when team members work remotely. The exchange in the Media Design team takes place in various meetings, either on site or via Teams. These consist of:

  • Weekly jour fixes: 1:1 meetings to clarify current projects and individual concerns
  • Weeklies: Weekly meetings where the whole team tackles larger, longer-term topics
  • Feedback Friday: This is the time to discuss designs that need feedback, or interesting things that someone wants to share with the whole team
  • OKR update: OKRs are goals developed together by the team. They should be achieved every four months; to ensure that these do not lose their focus, the team discusses their status on a regular basis
  • Brainstorming sessions: Every idea has the potential to grow into a wide-reaching campaign. To get there, we get together and decide how we can approach the next big topic.
  • Retro sessions: Every three months, the team looks back together and identifies strengths, learnings and weaknesses

In addition, you and your team will be in close communication with other teams across the company, both within Marketing and across departments, including Marketplace Management, Vendor Management, and HR. Beyond meetings, Slack helps as a quick communication tool, while Confluence serves as a wiki for reference and support for onboarding new employees. On top of that, the Media Design team uses a huge range of tools from Adobe Creative Cloud, as well as the ticket system mentioned above, to keep communication transparent within the team as well as with other departments.

Let’s hear from Chineta, Media Designer in the Media Design team:

I only joined Kaufland e-commerce recently as a digital media designer, and I feel very at home with my new team. I was paired with a personal buddy during my onboarding, which helped me get used to the workflow and start actively supporting my team very quickly. What I really like is the relaxed atmosphere with a start-up flair and the open communication, such as with the daily calls, regular jour fixes and review meetings.

Here are a few words from Niklas, Team Lead Media Design:

Our day-to-day work keeps us in close exchange with the different departments in the company and constantly encountering new tasks and challenges. From the trade fair booth for our colleagues in B2B or HR to the campaign teasers on the homepage of our online marketplaces, we make so many assets in the digital and print areas. We work directly towards our vision of becoming the best online marketplace.

At Kaufland e-commerce, it’s been clear to me from the start that this is a working environment where you can always have fun learning and creating even more new things.
