They say that the first time is an event, the second time is a repeat – but what about the third time? Then it officially becomes a tradition! After two successful years, our “Fulfilling Children’s Wishes” Christmas campaign entered its third round this year and brought joy not only to the children who received gifts, but also to our colleagues.
This year, we have once again teamed up with Diakonie Michaelshoven to give children and young people from difficult social backgrounds a magical Christmas.
Working together for a good cause
89 children supported by the Diakonie charity had written down their own personal Christmas wishes in advance. For our team at Kaufland e-commerce, one thing was immediately clear: We wanted to help make these wishes come true.
Every year, it is amazing to see how much passion our colleagues put into the cause. Nele, Senior National & International Event Manager, agrees:

For me personally, the Fulfilling Children’s Wishes campaign is one of the most wonderful campaigns of the whole year, which is why I always enjoy taking part. It feels good to know that you are doing something meaningful and that the gifts are going exactly where they are needed. It’s fantastic that the campaign brings so much joy to children every Christmas.
How the logistical magic worked
The process was very simple, but the effect was all the greater for it:
- Selecting wishes: Our employees were able to choose one or more wishes from an internal list.
- Wrapped with love: Whether delivered in person to the Cologne office or sent by post, each gift was individually prepared and lovingly wrapped.
- Bringing team spirit to life: Even colleagues who work remotely ordered gifts directly to the office so that no wish remained unfulfilled.
Janine, also a Senior National & International Event Manager, as well as the organiser of the campaign, sums up the essence of the campaign:
Es ist super schön, zu sehen, wie viel man gemeinsam bewegen kann. Was für uns vielleicht ein kleiner Beitrag ist, kann für ein Kind ein riesiges Stück Glück bedeuten. Gerade in den schwierigeren Zeiten zeigt es noch einmal, wie einfach es ist, Freude zu schenken.

89 gifts of Christmas joy
It was touching to see the mountain of gifts in our Cologne office’s reception area grow day by day. We collected a total of 89 gifts and delivered them to Diakonie Michaelshoven just in time for Christmas Eve.
This initiative demonstrates once again what we can achieve when we stand together as a team. Our employees have brought our “role model at all times” principle to life in the best way possible.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who fulfilled a wish, helped with the wrapping or supported the organisation. Together, we made Christmas a little brighter and more magical for many children.
