Roles and Job Families: Tech & Product

In our Tech & Product department, there are various roles and job families that we would like to introduce to you in more detail. Our approach is vertically oriented: each team is a Product Team composed of different job families. We do not have separate teams consisting solely of Product Managers, Designers, or Engineers. But what are the reasons for this?

Thanks to our vertical teams: 

• We achieve better synergies between the various job families and skills, ultimately leading to a higher-quality product.
• Despite cross-functionality, coordination within the different job families is also prioritized: in practice communities (also known as „guilds“), experiences are shared, and governance structures are established.

Engineers 

Engineering encompasses a large part of our Tech & Product department. We will introduce you to the different types of Engineers in more detail. 

Product Manager 

Our Product Managers are part of every Tech & Product Team. Their job is to support their teams and ensure that they achieve the best possible results.

Product Designer 

Product Designers work closely with our Product Managers and Engineers to create products that provide our customers with an optimal user experience. They design and test various user interface designs.

UX Researcher 

Our UX Researchers support the Product Teams in planning, conducting, and evaluating user research activities. They accompany the entire process of product development and design, from problem definition to solution validation to end-to-end analysis.

Information Security Manager 

Our Information Security Managers play a crucial role in the company. They are responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving the Information Security Management System (ISMS). They also significantly support both internal and external audits and ensure effective tracking and implementation of corrective actions.

Data Scientists 

Data Scientists at Kaufland e-commerce make an essential contribution to efficiently and meaningfully collecting and processing data from our online marketplaces. They practice data science, machine learning, and advanced analytics with the goal of bringing solutions into production rather than solving academic problems.

(Product) Analysts 

The Product Analysts at Kaufland e-commerce are experts in data analysis. They are embedded in various domains within the product teams of our company and have in-depth knowledge in their field. They combine deep domain knowledge with analytical skills to enable data-driven decisions in the product development process. They create tailored data solutions that help teams make informed, data-driven decisions for innovative and user-oriented product solutions.

SEO Manager 

Our SEO Managers are responsible for optimizing the organic visibility of our online marketplaces in search engines, which is not achieved through paid advertising. Their core tasks include analyzing keywords and technically optimizing pages on our marketplaces. They also keep a close eye on the rankings of our pages to take appropriate action when necessary.

IT Administration 

Without them, nothing works: Our IT department forms the backbone of our entire business operation by providing a modern and efficient IT infrastructure. As a cloud-only company, all IT services run through cloud-based solutions. Therefore, our IT strategy focuses on managing and optimizing our servers in the cloud.
